Scott Arfield in fresh Rangers injury sweat ahead of Celtic clash after midfielder pulls out Canada squad

Scott Arfield is a serious injury doubt for Rangers ahead of the crunch Old Firm clash in 12 days’ time.

The influential midfielder has pulled out of the Canada squad ahead of their final Concacaf Nations League qualifier, a must-win game against French Guiana.

The Canadian FA did not specify a reason why the midfielder won’t be attending but sports journalist and chief reporter for Sportsnet John Molinaro has reported Arfield has suffered a quad injury.

Scott Arfield will be a big loss to the Canada side

The French Guiana match is of massive importance to the Canadians, who need a win to guarantee their spot in both the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup and 2019-20 CONCACAF Nations League Group A.

Arfield missed the weekend draw with Kilmarnock and Steven Gerrard will eager to have him back involved for the top of the table clash at Celtic Park on March 31.

Rangers are already sweating on the availability of top scorer Alfredo Morelos, who could be hit with a ban for the game after a clash with Kilmarnock’s Kirk Broadfoot.
