Jim White has sparked a furious backlash after laying into Rangers and Celtic for the pitiful performances of Scotland.
The veteran radio host said the Glasgow rivals “should be ashamed of themselves” for not doing more to help the national team.
He accused both clubs of being preoccupied with each other and “trapped in sectarian bile”.
His astonishing rant comes less than 24 hours after Scotland‘s latest soul-destroying flop.
Alex McLeish’s side opened their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign with a 3-0 defeat to Kazakhstan – a side ranked 117th in the world.
Many have called the performance and result the worst in Scottish football history and the majority of supporters have demanded McLeish is axed.
Rangers didn’t have a single player in the squad that headed out to Astana while there were four Celtic players in the starting XI.
And, speaking on his talkSPORT show this morning, White launched a stinging attack on the rivals.
He claimed: “Celtic and Rangers should be ashamed of themselves in terms of what they are doing or not doing for the Scottish international scene.
“Celtic are too preoccupied trying to dominate Rangers, keeping them at arm’s length, Rangers trying to get back to compete again with Celtic.
“Celtic and Rangers are too busy undercutting each other in terms of away tickets for Old Firm games.
“It’s pathetic and they are still trapped in sectarian bile. Rangers fans quite recently again having the finger pointed at them for verbally abusing Steve Clarke.
“Once they come out the dark ages and realise they have a duty to serve Scotland.”
But his comments sparked a furious response.
@TheFamousRFC blasted: “Ranges didn’t have one player playing in that embarrassing spineless pathetic performance from Scotland yesterday. How on earth have you brought us into it?”
@BigMur said: “Get a grip. Is that your take on how we are so bad. Poor.”
@Laing1974 added: “You’ve lost the f***** plot Jim.”
And @ross_hughes54 slammed: “Jim White blames us for Scotland being s***e, maybe if the tartan army didn’t have an agenda against our players and stopped booing them the national team would get somewhere?”
While @NinjaMan54 said: “Not one single Rangers player in the national squad but it’s their fault that Scotland are an embarrassment?
“Seriously, you’re talking about the club bringing itself out of he dark ages. I’d suggest it’s you that’s living in those dark ages you’re talking about bud.”
